Amir Rajan has completed his A Dark Room prequel. It’s a brutally difficult take on the Dusty Path segment of ADR, and it’s available on iOS right now!

Any idea when android users gonna be able to download it?
cheers!
As far as I know, there’s no immediate timeframe for an Android port. Getting A Dark Room on Android is a higher priority.
How long do you think it will be until ADR is available for android? Not to bother you guys constantly about it 😛 I just want to be able to give you more of my sweet, sweet, monies! I already have ADR and The Ensign on my iOS device, it’s just not as good as my phone and I don’t use/carry it as much. But keep up the good work, and I look forward to what you guys coke up with next!!!
Much love from Vancouver, BC Canada,
– Richard
I keep harassing the Android dev, and I keep receiving assurances that it’ll be done by the end of the summer. I want it out there, too!
Is this game available to play online like ADR is?
Unfortunately, no. The Ensign is a spinoff created entirely by the iOS developer, Amir Rajan. A javascript port isn’t currently planned.
Would you be able to put it on pc? I would love to play it, but don’t have a smart phone or tablet…
The Ensign is the work of my partner, Amir. I don’t think he has any plans to port it to PC, unfortunately.
First off, I love this prequel almost as much as the original, love the extra narrative. One snag, when I don’t play in a bit it takes me back to the screen where it says continue current journey and when I do it seems to have lost a lot of my progress, is there a save function so I don’t have to keep repeating that I’m not aware of?
Amir is aware of some save issues that’ll be fixed in the next release (along with iPad support). Also, make sure that you don’t exit the app during battle.
But, yes, saving happens automatically.
Any update on possibility of ensign for android? Thanks!
As far as I know, there are no immediate plans to bring The Ensign to Android.
Perhaps after the ADR port is complete…
I’m having the same problem as Lizzie, still the game might save but I lose a lot of progress I had made. just wanting to know when this will be fixed? Thanks
Send your specific report to Amir (the developer of The Ensign) at ar@amirrajan.net and he’ll help you out.
Will this sequel be on PC?
Unlikely, unfortunately.
It seems that The Ensign has been worked on for 2 years. I LOVE A Dark Room, but I have an android. I quickly went to see if The Ensign was on android, but it wasn’t. I’m confused, because it’s been a long time. Is The Ensign ever going to be on android?
We don’t even have ADR on Android yet…
Love both ADR and the Ensign! Been awhile since I’ve played either so I’m playing through both right now. Quick question though, so you guys plan on developing other games with same style game play as Ensign and ADR but completely different story line? I’d love to see that! I love the game play style
I can’t speak for Amir (the developer of ADR iOS and The Ensign), but my interests pull me all over the place. I might come back to an idle-style game at some point, but don’t have anything planned.
If The Ensign was open-sourced, we’d probably see the beginnings of a PC port in under a month. I know I would work on one!
Agreed! The Ensign and ADR both have followings that would take the reigns on porting if the source were opened!!….. Any thoughts on this idea of continuing/expanding the ADR legacy through open-source Michael? 😀 What was ADR written in?
The web version of ADR is an open-source project, and can be found here. ADR-web is written in HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
The iOS games (both ADR and The Ensign) are written in Ruby, using the RubyMotion framework. The source for those games is the property of my partner, Amir Rajan, so I can’t speak toward the possibility of releasing it to the OSS community.
Any chance of it being online or downloadable for Mac soon?
Thanks
The Ensign is iOS only, unfortunately. There are currently no plans to bring it to OSX.
This needs an Android release ASAP. Loved the first one !!!
Since ADR is now on the android app store, I’m wondering if there’s any news about ensign being ported. Is it planned or is it iOS exclusive, or do you not know. I don’t mean to try to hurry you in any decisions, I’m just a fan of the game and would like to know.
Hey Justin. There are currently no plans that I’m aware of to bring The Ensign to Android. You should bug Amir about it =)
Agreed, waiting for an Android version!
